“We Are Creating an Orthodox Oasis in Florida”

“We Are Creating an Orthodox Oasis in Florida”

Our newspaper has previously published articles about the Orthodox school and the future Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in South Florida. We are delighted to share with our readers the latest updates on the construction progress of both Orthodox institutions.

We are building more than just the Resurrection Cathedral—we are creating an Orthodox oasis: a space for youth and family programs, concerts, musical and choral arts, educational activities, clergy housing, and a vibrant parish life. While our parish had only 12 people in 2020, today more than 300 faithful gather here on major feast days.

The number of Orthodox parishioners in Florida is growing rapidly, and our Resurrection Cathedral stands ready to serve this expanding Orthodox community. We expect to open the doors of our Cathedral in 2026 and look forward to welcoming both our regular parishioners and those who are just discovering Orthodoxy.

Currently, the Paideia Classical Orthodox Academy is building a 12,000-square-foot church building, which will also house 8 additional classrooms. With the blessing of His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, construction began in September 2025 and is scheduled for completion by the summer of 2026. This will allow us to expand our Orthodox school ministry and secure a future place of learning for the Orthodox Christian youth of South Florida.
